How do you create a platform that provides quick help and tips to pet parents? Designing a pet-focused social networking platform for pet parents- Petabl
Petabl today is the antidote to noisy, generic social networks. Whether you're a new or soon-to-be pet parent, Petabl invites everyone to be a part of a fully supportive community, which is a successful result of an efficient and engaging design solution that we provided to this platform.
Petabl allows you to share your pet's journey with captivating videos and pictures. Additionally, connect and chat with other pet enthusiasts who care deeply about the health and welfare of their companions. Gain valuable insights about your pet, including breed-specific health and care information.
During the designing process, the challenge for team Monsoonfish was to create a credible interface, that serves two main purposes:
- An open forum and community network through a social media design for like-minded pet-owners to ask questions and share freely.
- Taking care of the needs and queries of pet owners with an easy-to-use and intuitive design.

Objective of Design
As a downloadable application supporting pet owners and enthusiasts to offer the best possible lives for their pets, Petabl needed credible interface design. This needed to connect with its millennial and Gen Z users who grew up amid the advent of social media. To sum it up, the objective of design was:
- An app design that works like a simple social network but focused on pets.
- To establish Petabl as a community that highlights the happiness of pets, which in turn, would make more people adopt and save animals.
Our Process
Pain Points
- Massive set of the US market were first time pet owners, who mostly did not know when there was a crisis or how to react in one.
- Initial love and excitement wore off over time leading to abandoning of pets across the US.
- Most users lacked access to timely and useful information about their pets and how to look after them.
- Lack of immediate help and guidance to attend the pet or understand them at the time of crisis.
Discovery
It was discovered that pet owners spent time researching and finding help on social networking platforms like Instagram, Facebook, etc. Pet owners were constantly struggling for support and guidance, which led to the need for a dedicated network of pet owners and experts who could connect with each other:
- During times of crisis or sickness with their pets.
- To know more about their pets.
- Share memories with their pets.
- Give instant tips or advice to those who need it.
Implementation
A design solution with a dualistic approach for an app design that works like a user-friendly and delightful social network focused on pets; for taking care of their needs and queries.
And an establishment of a pet-owner community to share memories with their pets, and in turn promote adoption of pets.

Team Monsoonfish developed an interface design for a seamless user journey for a pet-focused social networking app, catering mostly to the millennial and Gen Z demographic pet owners, who could connect, value and rely on the platform for receiving guidance.

Being a Responsible Pet Parent through Petabl
- The newly designed interface of Petable includes card designs for showcasing communities to join, explore, and address all pet needs and queries. The UI promotes reliability for pet owners to take the advantage of the platform and experts’ knowledge with libraries that host all troubleshooting needs.
- To make the platform more engaging and intuitive, pet-owners have an option to create dedicated pet profile pages to manage their pets and their updates. The app has been made as interactive as any social media platform for pet owners to get connected and interact with for advice, tips and tricks.

- The creation of a community that promotes health and happiness of pets facilitated multiple adoption of pets as well as several app downloads.
User Impact
- Pet owners found instant guidance and help through the app in the time of crisis. The design of the app was similar to other social media platforms with which these targeted users could relate to. Moreover, the ease of usage, interactiveness and usefulness of the app turned it into a go-to platform for pet-owners not just for help and guidance, but also to share memories of and with their pet!
